Undertale #1 The Beginning

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: Human and Monsters.
One day, war broke out between the races.
After a long battle, the humans were victorious.
They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.

Many years later...

As the legends said, those who climbed the mountain never returned.
I , Archie, wondering whether this legend is true or not, I climbed up Mt. Ebott.
All of a sudden, I slipped into the underground that was full of monsters...

So, an interesting adventure started...
When I woke up, I saw a beautiful flower.
This golden flower could talk, and he called Flowey.

It seems that Flowey stayed in the underground for a long time.
Thus, he is going to teach me how to survive in the underground.
First, he told me that the heart symbolized my soul.

VOC.

culmination:
the final, highest, or decisive point
Then, he said that I could gain a lot of LV to be stronger.

That sounds reasonable.

"What's LV stand for? Love, of course."
(Umm... doesn't should it be Level?)
It sounds strange...
Unexpectedly, when Flowey shared some "friendliness pellet" with me,

My HP fell!

"YOU IDIOT!"
"In this world, it's kill or be killed"

At this moment, I realized that Flowey was not a nice guy...

As Flowey was going to kill me,
a fire ball knocked him away.

This is Toriel, caretaker of the ruins.

She saved my life.

Toriel kindly educated me how to trigger switches in the ruins.

Gradually, I started to rely on her...

She was so kind that she patiently taught me everything about underground.

When I READ the sign,
I finally understood how to READ the sign by pressing the key [z] :)

FANTASIC! What a useful sign!
Toriel treated me like a mother who taught her naive child how to explore the world.

As she asked me to press the switch, I pressed the wrong one.

She said:"No, no, no, you want to press the other switch, I've even labelled it."

She taught me how to do when I was attcked by the monsters in the underground.

I have to strike up a friendly conversation with monsters!?

Then it comes the first battle in the underground...

Idiom
You are the apple of my eye.
=You are the one that I love most of all.

Well, I had to "strike up a friendly conversations," I tried to talk with Dummy.

Then... I won!
This made Toriel felt happy.

While I was walking in the ruins with Toriel, Froggit jumped out.

After then, Toriel stepped out and drove him away.

Well, It  really impressed me that I could win the battle without any fight.

  1. Your blog post is really interesting to me. The way that you describe how you play the game is like telling me a story. It's helpful that you even provide the definition of words or slang to let me understand the content.

    1. This game turns over the stereotype of the RPG game, it encourages players to spare monsters instead of killing them.
Additionally, there are numbers of puns and idioms in the game waiting for your discovery!

  2. Yo, Jacky. It's me, Hans.

It shocked me a lot when I heard that you started to play Undertale. I thought only nerds like me would play this kind of game.

Well, as a player who have played it before, I could get more entertainment from your blog and knew the punchline in the game.

Also, It is special that you tell the story in first-person perspective as if you were telling "your own story". Maybe the protagonist doesn't think what you think, but you tried to give a vivid image of the protagonist. The almost speechless protagonist comes to life through your description.

I am looking forward to what you will meet in the game!

    1. Hi! Hans.
I hoped that I showed you the story vividly.
I would like to create a link between the story and my visitors, so I tried to describe the story in first-person perspective.

Plus, since I used this kind of description, I hoped that visitors can project themselves to the protagonist.

Having no need to follow my choice, you can have your opinion to choose the other choice if you also play this game.
You'll probably have different replies from this game.

Additionally, you said that you had played this game before, but I hoped you will still love this kind of interpretation.
